We wrote Josh’s obituary which appeared in the newspaper, The Deseret News, three days after Josh died. The obituary also appeared with our permission on the mortuary’s Web site where we had Josh prepared for burial.
Our kind, generous, and thoughtful Joshua Scott Davis passed away on May 6, 2012 in American Fork, Utah, and will be greatly missed by family and friends whose lives were influenced by his life.
Josh was born in Tokyo, Japan and later moved to American Fork with his family when he was six years old. He was the second oldest in the family and attended American Fork and East Shore High Schools. Growing up, he greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially scouting, and enjoyed long hikes in the national parks of Utah. Some of his favorite memories were hiking to the top of Mt. Timpanogos, his trip to Baltimore and Washington DC with his father, and doing things with his siblings and extended relatives.
Josh enjoyed planting sunflowers, preparing activities for friends and relatives such as Easter Egg hunts, and singing in the Church choir. He loved Pixar movies. He loved making puzzles, especially for Christmas. Opening presents from Josh on Christmas morning left us baffled for hours while we tried to solved the clues that led to the gifts. He did all this because he wanted everyone to feel special, spending days and weeks preparing for this day, but that is how he was. He greatly appreciated the time people spent in talking with him and helping him become a better person.
He loved education and learning. He was brilliant. Josh enjoyed computers and designing electronic circuitry. He was passionate about learning more about the Gospel, and he felt learning should be used for the enrichment of others.
He was very proud of his accomplishments, particularly in getting his Duty to God Award, but took more pride in the accomplishments of others. Josh was best known for his very caring spirit to all those who knew him. He felt that people’s names were important and tried to say hello to everyone he met.
Josh is survived by his parents, Randy and Shirley Davis, his grandparents, Paul and Wilma Mortensen, of American Fork, Utah, and Ed and Jenny Davis, of Green Valley, Arizona, his siblings, Aubrey, Emily, and Michael, his loving dog, Amelia, and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Fork 23rd Ward, 680 North 350 West in American Fork. A viewing will be held Thursday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and on Friday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the American Fork Cemetery. All family and friends are invited to come and remember his life. Condolences and personal memories can be left at andersonmortuary.com.
